Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy.

I don't think of myself as a role model. I do try to live in a compassionate, considerate and positive way. The only advice I can offer is to find what you love to do, find the joy in it, and express yourself through your passion.

GJC from Kyoto (京都), Japan

One of the things I'm always impressed with in Europe is how colorful the houses are. Makes for such visual interest.

@GJC: Thanks GJC! Yes, the Mediteranean countries particularly.... ;-)

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

Very busy composition this one of a place where people live and work. The colourful house impart of cheerful feeling to the atmosphere. At least.....there are no cars in the streets! Which is not the case in other towns in Italy (or Europe...for that matter!)

9 Aug 2009 11:46am

@Japanalia: Thanks very much Gabriella! Definitely no cars on Murano; either it moves by boat or not at all. Thank you for your visits and comments. They are much appreciated..... ;-)

Lee from Fort Frances Ontario, Canada

I can see this could be quite a flurry of activity at the right time of day. Nice shot Eric.

@Lee: Thanks Lee! Everything in Italy shuts down for the afternoon nap.... ;-)

bluechameleon from Vancouver, Canada

I love this point of view. It seems we always see Venice shot from the same point of view, but this is totally it!

9 Aug 2009 1:34pm

@bluechameleon: Thanks very much Sharon! Murano is on a separate island from Venice itself. The reasons were two-fold. First because of the fear of fires the craftsman were placed on this island away from Venice. The second was to ensure that the secret of their glassblowing was not stolen or lost....... ;-)

Scott Schilling from San Martin, United States

Wow, that has some amazing perspective! This is a wonderful image with all of the buildings and the variety of colors and then the boats lined up - great shot Eric!

@Sugata: Thanks Sugata! ;-)

Markela from Athens, Greece

Good sense of continuity in this photo, Eric! One question: what are those poles? :-))

11 Aug 2009 2:16pm

@Markela: Thanks Markela! Might be poles or maybe swedes.....actually they are used as bumpers to prevent the boats bashinkg up against the canal wall.... ;-)
