Harvest of the Sea

Posted by Eric Cousineau (Sherwood Park, Canada) on 21 October 2010 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

Relatively few sponges are harvested from the area, although attempts have been made in recent years to restart local sponge harvesting. Led by local businessman George Billiris, in the late 1980s the sponge industry made a comeback and in the fall of 2007, a record harvest of sponges by a single boat was made.

Christel from Köln, Germany

Good evening Eric
I see interesting things in this picture. In the boat I find some sand dollars. These things are unknown to me. I found in the Internet, interesting information, do so. The Sand Dollar is a family of sea urchins. The corals are also very interesting. They are very nice for decorations. The sponges are suitable for many useful purposes. The blue paint of the boat brings all very well expressed. It looks friendly and encourages you to purchase. Thanks for the interesting information about the picture. I would like to give you 5 stars ***** Have a nice evening and all the best including your family. Thank you very much for your nice comment and stars. Dear greetings Christel
