Railroad Maintenance Cars

Posted by
Eric Cousineau (Sherwood Park, Canada) on 13 April 2012 in Transportation and Portfolio.

Railroad Maintenance Cars have become a part of our past, but for years, you would see these interesting little vehicles carrying maintenance crews, cruising along the railroad tracks of North America. Since newer techniques have been implemented to get crews around, the old cars have become collectors items. They still travel the rails, but these days, they are used for pleasure trips.

Elaine Hancock from Rockville, United States

You certainly don't see these too often anymore on the tracks. Great shot! I read somewhere recently where people have purchased railroad cars and they have outfitted them like a trailer so it has their kitchen, sleeping area, etc. and they can hook them onto a train for a fee and it will take them wherever the train is going. I thought that might be fun!
