Recumbent

Posted by
Eric Cousineau (Sherwood Park, Canada) on 9 July 2012 in Transportation and Portfolio.

A recumbent bicycle is a bicycle that places the rider in a laid-back reclining position. Most recumbent riders choose this type of design for ergonomic reasons; the rider's weight is distributed comfortably over a larger area, supported by back and buttocks. On a traditional upright bicycle, the body weight rests entirely on a small portion of the sitting bones, the feet, and the hands.

Great shot of this biker and his equipment. The only trouble with recumbent bikes is there is no support for the head.

Great shot! I have never ridden one of these but they don't look comfortable to me. I would also be afraid that on the road, you would not be as easily seen and could be run over.

These just don't look comfortable to me, but I've never tried one - except the exercise type that go nowhere. That's what my Dr. wanted me to ride after my knee surgery. A real one would probably be a lot more fun.
