The literary works of PEI born author Lucy Maud Montgomery have achieved international acclaim. Her first book, "Anne of Green Gables, was published in 1908. Nineteen (19) more novels and many more short stories and poems followed, all inspired by her great love of Prince Edward Island's landscape and cultural life. During her career Montgomery created many unforgetable heroines, including Anne of Green Gables, Emily of New Moon and Sara Stanley (The Story Girl). Her work has since been translated into at least seventeen (17) languages and is enjoyed around the world by people of all ages.
